2 SOLDI
The 2 Soldi is a "difficult" stamp. Its yellow on white background lets you see very poorly the drawing details to the point that not always it's possible to distinguish between first and second type: not common are samples with sharp and well detailed printing.
I'm showing here two samples, one for the first (Fig. 1) and one for the second type (Fig. 2).

Fig. 2: second type |
The main differences are:
In
the first type the curl over the head is flat and low, very often not
so evident (common characteristic of all the values of the first type).
In the second one the curl is bigger and pointed up (common characteristic
of all the values of the second type). |
In
the first type the ribbon on the back of the nape is open, similar to
"3' and thin (common characteristic of all the values of the first
type). In the second type it is closed, similar to a "8" and
thicker (common characteristic of all the values of the second type). |
In
the first type, under the "O" of "SOLDI", we can
see (with some effort...) a small color dot that is not present in the
second one. |
For more clarity, (because in the sample reproduced is not well visible) I show the detail of the color dot under the "O" of "SOLDI", from "Catalogo Vaccari 2001" (Fig. 1a and 2a).

It should be mentioned that other particulars do exist that differentiate the two stamps, but they result very often very difficult to find. I invite you to read specialized magazines and books for further info.
