This stamp (Fig. 2) has been issued only with the dot after the value and indeed has some characteristics that make it different from the other samples of this issue.
First of all the paper of this piece has a watermark: the watermark consists on a big "A" that was the initial of the provider of the paper, Pietro & Agostino Amici. It was printed on watermarked paper for safety reasons, being an high facial value (here is also the reason of its rarity as used). The sheet inter-space is 2.5 cm, while in the other values is around 1.0 cm. In fact in one paper sheet there were 250 watermarks marks, but because the printing table was carrying only 240 pieces, to match for each stamps one complete mark, the inter-space was increased to allow for a unique mark fitting each stamp.
The paper sheets were inserted under the printing press in a non-consistent way and for this reason the watermark can be found in different positions, as shown here below (Fig. 1).
In addition the paper in a handmade type of paper and not machine made as for the other values, white and somehow thick.
